Pool Heat Pump Heat Siphon SX3.25HP 82,000 BTU Scroll Compressor

I bought this Heat Siphon brand heat pump in 2004. It still works just as well as when new, producing a lot of heat from very little energy. The specifications are 82,000 BTU of heat output at the standard “80/80/80″ parameters of water temperature, air temperature and air humidity. The heat pump COP (coefficient of performance) is 7.0, still one of the most efficient units made. The Heat Siphon requires a minimum of 20 gallons per minute water flow, and will work up to 70 GPM. This unit is in daily use, easily warming the water of my Endless Pool. For normal pool heating use, this pool heat pump will work fine in most Southern climates for extending the swimming season. The 82,000 BTU size is recommended for small pools up to 10,000 gallons. There are online calculators for determining if this pool heat pump will work in your situation. In my 3200-gallon Endless Pool, the temperature rise is over two degrees per hour. A 10,000 gallon pool would be warmed about two degrees every three hours, or 16 degrees in a 24-hour day. The system does weigh about 250 pounds, so three or four strong men would allow for the safest removal. Cutting the pipes and disconnecting the power wiring won’t take over ten minutes. Installation of a pool heat pump is quite simple. The 1-1/2″ or 2″ supply line is cut between the filter and the pool, and the pool heat pump inserted in the line. I currently have it plumbed for 1-1/2″ PVC, but 2″ pipe can be used. The original Owner’s Manual/Installation Instructions manual will be provided. The first two photos were taken in June 2004. The remaining photos were made March 12, 2018. The garden railway track is about eight inches above the pad height, so a little extra effort will be required to lift the heat pump clear of it. AC power requirements are 220V, 30A. The actual running current is about 23 amps. I’ll be glad to answer any additional questions. Good luck, and warm swimming!
